Key definitions- Purchased water: Municipal water suppliers and municipal wastewater treatment plants, public or private utilities, and other companies involved in the provision, transport, treatment, disposal, or use of water and effluent (e.g. Air Selangor) Surface water: Water that occurs naturally on the Earth’s surface in ice sheets, ice caps, glaciers, icebergs, bogs, ponds, lakes, rivers, streams, collected and harvested rainwater Groundwater: Water that is being held in, and that can be recovered from, an underground formation Produced water: Water that enters a company’s boundary as a result of extraction (e.g., crude oil), processing (e.g., sugar cane crushing), or use of any raw material
